Mad World

I've loved Gary Jules' version of the song Mad World for a long time. There's something beautiful about the despair in this song. As I'm sure I've told you before, I've struggled with depression since long before I could really understand how destructive it would eventually become. But there's a level of comfort in the darkness, and it fuels creativity like nothing else I know. Anyway... I shouldn't talk about it any more. Just... enjoy the song.

  2. I know this song! Not sure where, though. (I think I may have heard it on a TV show, but gosh, I can't even remember which one if that's true....) I agree, it's a very beautiful rendition. Thanks for sharing this--now that I know who the singer is, I can go buy this song sometime to better listen to it. ;)

    1. Apparently it originally featured in Donnie Darko, but I've heard it a few times in TV shows, too... I'm pretty sure it was in The Mentalist quite recently.

  3. I love the song, too. Also, I am totally okay with talking about depression, I too have battled it far too long. (Currently, I'm winning right now, so that's fun :) )

  4. I prefer this over the Tears For Fears version, for the same reasons. The tone fits the song better.
